About Sybil MacBeth
Sybil MacBeth is a mathematics instructor, a dancer and doodler. She has an M.S. in Mathematics from the College of William and Mary and was Assistant Professor on the faculty of Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach until 2004. Tutoring high school students and free-lance editing for a textbook company keep her in touch with her mathematical home-base and the left side of the brain.
Sybil is a confessed non-artist and cannot draw a cat. Years ago a friend put a pen and colored markers in her hand and gave her permission to make improvisational drawings. Making abstract, sometimes even ugly drawings, has given her many hours of pleasure and relaxation.
A modern, ballet, and liturgical dancer, Sybil continues to study dance and participates in an improvisational movement class.
The prayer practice Praying in Color was born when her need to invite her body into intercessory prayer intersected with her love of color and doodling.
Sybil is the mother of two adult sons. She lives in Memphis, Tennessee with her husband who is an Episcopal priest.
"In God we live and move and have our being." Acts 17:28
