In a Praying in Color™ workshop, participants learn how to "pray in color" as a group through an intercessory prayer exercise. I try to dispel any art anxiety, because this is not about being an artist. It's about learning to pray in a visual, kinesthetic, and playful way. This is about sitting in the presence of the God who loves and delights in us. I use an egg timer so no one is overwhelmed or intimidated by long periods of silence.

For me, leading Praying in Color™ workshops is pure fun. I get to combine my love of teaching, performing, playing, and community building all into a single vocation. I also hear amazing ideas for other ways to use this prayer form.

Reviews
"Sybil presented this praying technique in a workshop at our church and again to a women's study/prayer group. I have difficulty staying focused as I practice meditative prayer and praying in color was very appealing. A short time after following Sybil's presentations, I decided to use the technique at a half-day silent retreat for Christian women. We were in a lovely wooded spot, away from usual distractions. I was amazed how quickly time passed as I used my colored pencils and a special notebook just for praying. I truly felt I was connecting with God in silence and in my color graphics. While I don't pray in color on a regular basis, when I do, I am amazed how relaxing, cleansing and refreshing to my body, mind and spirit the practice is."

"This feels like a very love-based practice to me. I didn't know any of the people we were praying for; but while I was doing this, I was loving them."

"The time flew. Three minutes in silence can seem long, but doing this, they pass so quickly. I found that centering came much easier when I focused on a person and the needs of the person as I drew."
